CONTACT US
Consignments are welcomed for our upcoming auctions at any time. If you've decided to sell property at an auction, Art & Auktionen will gladly advise you.
VALUATION
First and reasonable step is to make a valuation. For this please send us a photograph of the property via post or email and include details as sizes, medium, signature, date and provenance, if existing. You can also use the contact form. Our relevant specialist will then contact you by phone or in writing and let you know our valuation subject to inspection of the original.
The valuation of the original work which is conducted free of charge will then take place on the Art & Auktionen premises. You bring the item to us, in a personal and confidential consultation with one of our specialists you learn about the object and our estimate price proposal. Additionally you receive information on the procedure of an auction. If you wish to sell a collection or the contents of a house or an appartment, we can arrange for a specialist visit with you. Please call us for making an appointment. Also in this case it would be of advantage to receive photographs in advance in order to decide whether your items are suitable for our auctions.
CONSIGNMENT
After the fixing of the estimate price and your decision to consign with us we conclude a mutual auction contract. Consignment deadline is app. 8 weeks prior to the respective auction date.
AUCTION CONTRACT
The contract includes the Terms and Conditions of Consignment and Auction as well as the estimate- and reserve (limit) price agreed with you. It lists the auction date, the sales commisssion and other fees for services such as insurance and illustration. The contract becomes legally valid when it is signed by you as the consignor and by us as the commisssion agent.
ESTIMATE PRICE
The estimate price is the fixing of the value of an object which is agreed with you. It is quoted in the catalogue description of the object.
RESERVE PRICE
In case of more important property we agree a reserve (limit) price with you below which the item may not be sold irrevocably. The limit price is strictly confidential.
INSURANCE
The insurance is inherent part of the contract. The insurance fee is 1,0 % of the estimate price plus insurance tax.
SALES COMMISSION
The sales commission (at this time per object: 15 % up to € 5,000.-- hammer price, beyond that 10 %) will be deducted from the hammer price.
PREPARATION FOR AUCTION
It is our ambition to market your consignment at the best. Our art historians make diligent research about your property to the best of their knowledge, after cataloguing each item is published with a scholarly description and quotation of the estimate price in the catalogue. Upon conclusion of the sales contract we arrange for an illustration. Our clients receive the catalogue app. three weeks before the auction date, at the same time it is available at our website. One week prior to the auction date the property consigned by you is presented in our showrooms for preview at best. Finally you receive a notification about your consignment.
AUCTION
At the auction your consigned property is knocked down to the highest bidder.
PAYMENT
About four weeks after the auction - provided that the buyer already paid the complete amount of the invoice – you receive a settlement about your proceeds. Payment will be effected by non-negotiable cheque or by transfer after agreement.
AFTER SALE
In case your property could not be sold at auction, clients interested in it have the possibility of acquiring it within three weeks after the auction subject to the same terms and conditions of auction.
