BIDDING AT AUCTION
We offer you the following opportunities of bidding:
- In person
- Absentee bidding
- Telephone bidding
- On-line absentee bidding
To be in-person at auction is the best way to experience the atmosphere of an auction and to participate in bidding personally. First of all you have to register for the sale at the front desk during your visit at the preview or on the auction day. You will receive a paddle number which you have to show clearly while bidding. If you've won the auction, please betake yourself to the front desk, where the invoice will be issued according to your paddle number.
In case you can not attend an auction, you are able to place an absentee bid. Please send us the completed and signed bid form with your personal data via letter, fax or email at least 24 hours prior to the start of the auction. List the lot number(s) requested by you and quote your maximum bid. If your bid is successful, you will receive the invoice shortly after the auction.
Telephone bidding is subject to a written agreement (bid form) with Art & Auktionen which must be submitted at least 24 hours prior to the start of the auction. We will contact you during the auction and a saleroom representative will bid live with you over the phone. Any liability for the functioning of the joint telephone connection will not be taken over by Art & Auktionen. In case we can not reach you by the phone, the saleroom representative will bid on your behalf up to the amount of the estimate price. After successful knockdown we will send you the invoice.
You can place your maximum online absentee bid, for this you have to register as a user in the online catalogue via the button „place a bid“ at least 24 hours prior to the start of the auction. After this deadline registration is no longer possible.
BIDS
Your bids (in writing – by phone – on-line) will be confidentially handled by us in your interest. Any bids shall not include the buyer's premium, droit de suite and VAT.
INVOICE – BUYER'S PREMIUM – DROITE DE SUITE – VAT
Buyer's premium is the amount of 25 % automatically added to the hammer price, in which the German value added tax is included (§ 25a USTG). Art & Auktionen has to pay a royalty to Ausgleichsvereinigung Kunst for works of fine art created after Januar 1, 1900 (§26 UrhG). These works are marked with a x in the catalogue. The buyer bears 2 % of this contribution calculated from the hammer price. On request the VAT can be listed in the invoice, in this case buyer's premium is 20 %. VAT has to be listed in the invoice at lots marked with one asterisk or two asterisks in the catalogue. Upon presentation of a valid tax identification number buyers of other European countries do not have to pay the German VAT, in this case buyer's premium is 22 %. Export to third countries is subject to value-added German tax. VAT can be reimbursed upon receipt of the export documents cleared through customs. In this case buyer's premium is 22 %.
